//THE RITUAL//

in one kali myth, she is manifested from durga’s third eye in battle, as a personification of the goddess’s divine fury. her name means “the black one”, referring to her body which is said to be a blue-ish black color and representative of time and space, which she is ruler over. she wears a garland of severed heads, brandishes a scimitar dripping with blood, and dwells in cremation grounds. despite her fearsome appearance, she is venerated as “the great mother” in tantric/shakta traditions, embodying the duality of human experience.

this ritual is inspired by the teachings of Lama Rod Owens, who in his work Love and Rage: The Path of Liberation Through Anger, speaks to the transformative and protective power of anger in dharma work. kali is a dharma protector, meaning she removes obstacles to her devotees spiritual enlightenment and protects them along their journey. this ritual soap was created as a spell of protection for anyone on their dharma or activism path to invoke kali’s fierce anger as spiritual armor to wear throughout the day. This rituals creates an energetic barrier between you and any energy directed at you that is not in alignment with your higher purpose. Use it at the beginning of your day to help you enter the world fortified, knowing you are divinely protected.

“what I began to see was that my anger was valid, and that it was trying to teach me. In dharma communities where we’re taught that we just need to suppress our anger and that anger is wrong, that there’s no place for anger in our dharma spaces. And that’s just another strategy that these spaces are using to control bodies, to police bodies. You know? Because our anger, especially if we’re in dharma spaces, our anger is actually helping us to look at things that feel really off. I’m just not angry for the hell of it.”Lama Rod Owens
