//WHAT TO EXPECT//
my practice utilizes a trauma informed approach so before we dive into any work, extra care and attention will be placed on creating a safe and generative environment to support each person’s unique needs. I will ask you some facilitative questions, always confirming consent before touching on sensitive topics, to understand what brought you to seek sound healing and how I can best be of service in your healing journey.
the sound healing ceremony will begin with a grounding meditation to attune to each other’s energies. Based on our preliminarily conversation, the ceremony space will be opened and any spirit guides/deities/ancestors we have decided to call on to aid us in the work will be invited in. I will intuitively channel the direction of the healing through my instruments, and depending on whether the session is 30 minutes or 1 hour, the duration of the sound bath itself will be either 15 minutes or 30 minutes respectively. This leaves time at the end of the session for integration and aftercare to be discussed.
//ABOUT SOUND HEALING//
sound healing works by activating the parasympathetic nervous system through the vibrations of each instrument being played. these vibrations are picked up by the tympanic membrane of the ear, which vibrates in response to different sound waves. responses are relayed to the vagus nerve, the major parasympathetic nerve of the body. this nerve has a direct effect on hormone release, blood pressure, inflammation, heart rate, etc.; meaning that through hearing certain calming and relaxing frequencies we are able to directly effect the body’s ability to relax, rest and heal.
in my practice i also facilitate healing through balancing the 7 main chakras. i use crystal bowls whose frequencies are specifically tuned to a particular chakra. I also use different gong strokes that correspond to the chakras and can rebalance them. using sound to manipulate the chakras facilitates healing of the energetic body, so in this two-fold approach we are working on bringing both the physical body (the parasympathetic nervous system) and the energetic/subtle body ( the chakras) into balance and ease.
